Antique Sewing Base Tables

My brother is in England right now with his little family. I am so jealous! I want to go so bad one day. I am obsessed with old world architecture. But while he was eating in a cute little cafe near Buckingham Palace (it makes you sick. I know.) he noticed the tables and thought that I would appreciate them. And I do.

It is an old singer sewing machine base with a marble top. How clever and cute! I love it!

I want to go rummage through my Grandparents stuff now and try to find one to use. What a great way to combine the old with the new. My sister-in-law has one and she uses it as a little side table in her bedroom! It looks so good. But here are some other ideas I have found.

I love the simple design of this desk. I could see myself at it!

This one they turned into a long dining table with 3 bases. SO clever.

And you can never have enough white wrought iron accents in your backyard or garden, right?

So next time you are offered an old sewing machine by an OLDER relative...take it!
Like I said...it is a great way to fuse together old heritage with new life and still keep it functional and beautiful.

Enjoy!

World Market Wall Art

Happy Tuesday!
My Mother-in-law has been in town for the past week and we are taking her home today. It has been so much fun having her here. She really came to see her Grandson but we got to hang out with her a little too. =)

When I picked her up the other day we ran by a World MArket in Houston to get my husband his GINGER BEER that he gets like twice a year. We have to go all the way to Houston to get it so we don't have it to often. I think its disgusting but he likes it.

I was looking and soaking up all of the decor they have their. I am in love with it ALL!! But I really noticed their wall art this time. My husband HATES abstract art.  I am usually not a fan of cheap abstract art either but these were a little different. Here are some of my favorites.

I need this one for my home right now.

I love the colors here.

This could be so fun in a kitchen.

Inspiration for a girly room.

I like the colors in this one too.

I want this for my future craft room.

So what are your thoughts on abstract art?
Yes or no?

Designer Tip Tuesday: Danielle Oakey Interiors

For todays "Designer Tip Tuesday" we are so lucky to have Danielle! She is so talented and I absolutely love her blog. She is always posting great ideas and projects.
****************

Hi, I am Danielle from Danielle Oakey Interiors.
I am thrilled that Kayla asked me to participate in this series.
I love hearing other designers tips and always seem to learn something new!

Now onto my designer tip...

Invest in designer fabrics.

Designer fabrics can be expensive but are always worth it.
If you are running on a tight budget, make the fabric count by using it in a dramatic way.
This room is a perfect example of how a small amount of fabric can make a big impact.

You can also pair less expensive fabrics with designer fabrics.

What would this room be without the drapery?
They make the space.

Now go shopping for some fantastic fabrics.
Thanks for having me!

Pillow for my sofa

So I have been on the look out for the perfect throw pillows for my living room. It has been tough! I inherited a great quality sofa from someone for free! But it is a DARk purple. Haha. But I actually kinda like it. I will show pictures soon but I have been looking for something that has olive green and purple with a white background to kinda tie in the sofa and here it is!

{via etsy shop}
It is PERFECT!!!! I will be ordering it shortly and then I will admire it for at least 20 min before I unleash my son. That way I can say it stayed clean for that long. A few more that I really like are...

My Mother's Day gift to my Mom!

So this was my Mother's Day gift to my Mom. She has been wanting to re-do her upstairs into a workout and entertainment area for the boys. Which is fun for me but a lot of work. So I decided to help her with the upstairs. So I gave her a gorgeous citron vase that I found at Hobby Lobby along with this design.

She LOVED it!
My Mother has a VERY traditional style. So I wanted to keep it like she would want but add a little graphic print to liven it up a bit. We are also using most of the furniture that is already in their so we will just be doing a lot of updating and rearranging really. I got her calendar and blocked out a weekend that would work for us. I think she really liked it. She wanted to take this color scheme into her MASTER Bedroom. Haha.

I will keep you guys posted on the progress.

Happy Mother's Day!

My post might be a little late but I told my husband that Mother's Day (in my book) should last about 3 days. So I am still in Mother's Day mode. Haha. I forgot to take a picture of me and my Son at church so I snatched him up real quick last night. I am starting a new tradition of taking a picture with my kids every Mother's Day. This is the best I can do for this year. Maybe next year I won't have to hold him down and will be dressed up.

I absolutely love being a Mom!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

Where would the world be without Robert Allen?

So I just ran into this fabric from the Robert Allen Dwell Studio Line and I am drooling over it!! This GATE fabric comes in four different colors and I LOVE all four of them. Seriously, the love I have for Robert Allen is indescribable. He has so many good fabrics...not to mention the QUALITY of them is top of the notch.

Jade

Charcoal

Brindle

Citrine
Anyone want to do me a favor and let me design a room of their house around this fabric?! (haha)
