Mavrick Turns 2 & A Goldfish Brithday Party

My little boy turned 2 this past week. Hard to believe I have a 2 year old crazy boy. We love him so much and everyday is a new adventure. We decided to go with a Goldfish theme since he loves fish and we had a lot of stuff left over from his party last year.

The invitations I kept pretty small and little. I saw this invitation and thought the saying was cute and cheesy so I used powerpoint to put the top of the invitation together and printed them off. Then I got scrap pieces of blue paper that I had and cut them into a modern wave and layered them on top of each other. I hot glue that to the white part of the invite and added two Goldfish Crackers and a single line of hot glue for more of a water affect. After that I just added a simple liner to the envelopes to dress them up a little bit. My new favorite trick!

The Backdrop was super easy and I got the idea from this blog. I just cut strips of white, light blue, and dark blue crape paper and hung them behind the food table. I left some twisted and then some straight to give it a wavy effect.

The pictures of Mavrick in the shape of a two I saw done here and I absolutely loved it. I wanted to add pictures of him through out the party but instead of having 50 frames this was a simple and cute way to display them all at once.

The fish I made to add a little texture/dimension and to keep with the goldfish theme.
The party was outside in our yard so I wanted to keep the food light and simple since the kids were going to be in and out of the pool and sprinklers. It was so simple and easy.

What was on the Menu?:
-Sub Sandwich Bar (ham/cheddar & turkey/provolone)
-Flavored Potato Chips
-Veggies & Dip
-Watermelon
-Blue Berry J-ello
-Goldfish Bar

The Goldfish Bar was a big hit. I got this serving dish from my Grandmother when I went to college and I never really used it for anything until now. It was the perfect thing for the Goldfish Bar. I filled each compartment with Sour Cream & Onion, Chocolate Chip, Original, Vanilla Cupcake, and Explosive Pizza flavored Goldfish Crackers. The bottom part is suppose to hold ice but I had rocks from our goldfish bowl so I poured the rest of them into the bottom of the container to add a little blue to the arrangement.

And no goldfish party would be complete without actual goldfish. They were bagged and given to the kids as party favors as they were leaving.

A picture of the birthday boy with his cake. My husband baked and shaped it the night before and then my Mom decorated it for the party. I love how it turned out.

We had a great time and at the end of the day we had a happy and tired little boy. (and Mommy)
Thanks to everyone who came and helped celebrate this special day with our little boy.

  2. Those poor goldfish, why would you just give them out when they take so much work and care...
Do you realise they can grow to a foot long and live to 40 years old if you look after them?
