Laundry: The Never Ending Battle!

So yesterday was somewhat of a productive day I guess. But really I never feel that productive after doing a ton of laundry because no matter how much I get done...there is going to be some to do tomorrow. It might be my least favorite household job! One day I will have kid slaves to do it for me but until then I am stuck doing....THIS!

So I decided that as I was doing it I would dream up my dream laundry room to make things a little more interesting. I figure...maybe I won't HATE it so much if I had a nice big area to do it in.

I found these wonderful ideas on Better Homes & Gardens website.

I absolutely love the color and storage in this one. Who says laundry rooms have to be neutral?

I kinda like the idea of hiding your machines behind doors. Especially if you don't have top of the line machines. It also keeps down on noise.

This one just has my name all over it!

Mosaic art, behind doors, AND storage! Can it get any better?

I really like this fresh design. I wouldn't mind the washer and dryer either!

Designer Tip Tuesday (Nurseries) & A Giveaway

On Tuesdays, from here on out, I will be having a "Designer Tip Tuesday." I receive a lot of questions about A LOT of different aspects of design so this is a way for me to educate.

Today I will be featuring Nurseries!
Here are three design tips to help you get jump started on your little ones area.

#1-Make it cozy.

I know that modern is in but sometimes it can be a bit harsh and uninviting especially in a baby room. So  a couple things you can do it make it a bit more cozy for you and the little on it by adding soft to the touch fabrics, rugs and comfortable furniture. Look for fabrics that are fuzzy and warm like chenille and minky. While looking for an area rug...make sure it is a good quality one. The perfect rug can turn a good room into a GREAT room. And when picking out rockers for your little one...think outside of hard wooden rocker. Comfy gliders and rockers can be found at a very affordable price and as much time as mothers spend in them it is worth a little more money.

#2-Make it adaptable.

Babies grow sooooo fast and if we changed their room with each birthday it would be expensive and a bit ridiculous. So when choosing a theme or design for your nursery look for ways to make it adaptable and livable for them 3 years down the road. For instance, get bedding that has stripes or dots that can grow with them. By adding different accessories you will be able to update the room to your child's preference. Buy a 4-in-one crib that they can use for a few years. Look into a changing table that can serve as a dresser in the future.

#3-Make it functional.

Baby rooms should be all about function. Create little areas in the room for certain purposes. Such as a reading area, changing area, and playing area. By separting these areas it will not only balance out the functionality of your nursery but also help keep it a bit more organized as well. If you are limited on space...look for multi use items. Instead of having a big book shelf on the floor...tack it up on the wall.

Color Your LIfe Series

by LeBaron Interiors

This new series is a way for me to teach you about colors and color theory by giving examples and focusing on a certain aspect of color at one time.

Growing up my mother always use to read a book called...A Color Clown Comes to Town. And so in design school and art classes I ALWAYS referred back to that little book that explained color basics. I even bought it for my little boy! So you can say my love for color and color theory started at a young age.
So today...we will be focusing on the color/hue of PURPLE!

Also known as violet, this color is located between red and blue on the color wheel and is said to be the perfect combination. Taking the reds focusing and active energy and combining it with blues cooling and calming nature it creates a sensual atmosphere in interiors. Most people either love it or hate it.

Meanings for purple:
-Nobility and Royalty
-Mystery and Magic

Artist love the color purple because it encourages imagination and creativeness.
Here are some interiors and items that are purple that I love.

Fabrics for my home...

I have been looking at these two fabrics for a while and FINALLY was able to order them...cause you need a lot of yardage for curtains and more yardage means more money. Haha! But they came in today as I was driving out of the drive way and saw the glorious UPS truck coming down my driveway. I RAN to him...yes Ran and snatched them up.

This one is for MY Bedroom. I am finally getting around to putting it together so this is kind of  a sneak peak!

Remember the green fabric post? Well this was one of the fabrics and YES...I ordered it for my living room!!! Yahoo! I am so excited!

I will show them to you when I am done putting them together!

Just Peachy!

My husbands favorite fruit or food for that matter is a peach! So we planted our FIRST Peach tree the other day! We feel like real adults now. Haha. My little man, Mavrick, tried to help.

"An apple is an excellent thing --
until you have tried a peach."
George du Maurier (1834-1896)

And one thing you will find out about me is that I love little poems and quotes. I thought this one was perfect because its SO true! Who would prefer an apple over a home grown peach?! Honestly.

The color peach is so timeless and great color to update your home with for spring. Check out these Etsy finds that are all centered around PEACHES!
